The Truth about Winning

Sunday, May 23rd, 2010

Notice something that both Scott Brown and Charles Djou has in common?

Neither are “true” conservatives, yet both managed to win in states that are so Blue that having a “D” in front of ones name is a requirement for winning.

Anyone who believes that a politician needs to be truly conservative in order to win does not understand democracy.

A politician has to be able to represent ALL the people, even those that they do not agree with.

Both candidates believe in Republican ideals–but and here comes the really important part: understand that they are there by the will of ALL of the people.

When Conservatives JOIN with their Liberal counterparts to tell the public how terrible the Republican party is, the Dems take over Congress and the WH–and ultimately the SCOTUS.  When they learn what they are supposed to learn in grade school, that there is a time and a place for everything…and that uniting with others is the core foundation of the UNITED States…they WIN.

And WINNING allows one to push ones principles and ideology.

Losing only affords you to preach to the wind.

How America sees the Illegal Immigration Issue - Part 2

Sunday, May 16th, 2010

Why do I believe the previous talking points are not true?

1- Most Americans consider any kind of “path to citizenship” as “amnesty”.

Most Americans HAVE broken laws; ie speeding, running red lights, parking and do not consider paying hefty fines as “amnesty”.  Sorry.

2- Most Americans consider Mexicans as a threat to “national security”.

Most Americans CAN tell the difference between Mexicans who take care of their lawns and their children with a work ethic that makes most American employers weep in gratitude and Moslems who think it’s ok to kill the infidel.

3- Most Americans want to deny citizenship to anchor babies, children born of illegals.

Most Americans cannot go beyond a second generation to find an immigrant ancestor.  While most came here at a time when Americans welcomed immigrants, the idea of denying anyone of their constitutional right of citizenship because you don’t like their parents is abhorrent.

4- Most Americans want the jobs that illegals take.

Most Americans have heard all about the $18 a hour maid or $24 a bucket of fruit that illegals are supposed to make, but very few are willing to do such back breaking work for any amount of money.

5- Most Americans consider the illegal immigration issue on a par with unemployment, terrorism, Obamacare.

Most Americans did NOT choose Illegal Immigration hawks like Santorium, Tancredo, Hayworth or even Romney when he switched sides and jumped on that wagon.  Even “conservatives” choose less illegal immigration activist like McCain.

They DID choose GWB in 2004 and the GOP in 2002 and 2004 over terrorism and will, if conservatives don’t blow it, choose against Obamacare come November.

6- Most Americans understand that this is about breaking laws and NOT about racism.

They would if the talk where of illegals in the Northern border or on our very porus ports.  As it is, they know, and the honest conservative know, it’s all about Mexicans.  They are fed up with Blacks thugs running our inner cities and being untouchable so they turn their attention to the criminal element of another race.

7- Most Americans agree with the Arizona law’s of having non-Whites prove they are not here illegally.

Most Americans are old enough to remember when a group of people had to carry papers to prove who they weren’t.  They also remember a time when a wall was being asked to be torn down.

No Difference

Friday, March 19th, 2010

For over 5 years, conservatives have been saying there is no difference between Democrats and Republicans.

Of course, during the GOP Congress and WH, we sailed right thru 2 recessions with nary a bother on the voting public, we had near zero unemployment, great tax cuts that spurred the best economy in 30 years, and no attacks for 7 years.

Obama and his congress has made the recession longer, harder, and caused double digit unemployment. They stand ready to take over a sixth of our economy and add another entitlement program. America has alienated our allies and kissed the b*tts of our enemies. And every day, some nut talks about destroying our nation and our way of life.

I never did comprehend this idea that there is no difference between the two viable parties. As an Independent, I found the difference obvious and in the last year, PAINFULLY obvious.

As we sit on the day before this difference will practically be written in neon lights, I’d like to ask conservatives to tell me the difference between:

1- Liberals who insists on criticizing America, believing that only by being “honest” about America’s faults can America stop being something to be ashamed of…and Conservatives who insists on criticizing GWB, McCain, and all GOPs, believing that only by being honest about Republicans faults can the GOP be proper conservatives?

2- Conservatives who demanded that the GOP congress and WH use reconciliation to jam down their conservative agenda and was angry and vowed vengeance on those who refused to use the nuclear option…and the Liberal congress and WH who are listening to THEIR base who are demanding the use of reconciliation and the nuclear option to jam down their liberal agenda?

3- Liberal who can’t seem to let go of GWB and what the GOP did…and conservatives who can’t seem to let go of GWB and what the GOP did?

4- Liberals who turn against Lieberman for not towing their Liberal line…and Conservatives who turn against McCain for not towing their Conservative line?

Perhaps the reason why conservatives see no difference between Democrats and Republicans is because there is no difference between themselves and Liberals. Both see an America that belongs solely to THEIR ideology.

Hijacking the “conservative” label

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

Our local talk show host had the head of the Hawaii Republican Chapter as a guest.  The man was pretty logical and I enjoyed his enthusiasm for the party but he began with some stats and a question I wish I was able to call in and answer (I was driving at the time.)

He said that in Hawaii, by a margin of almost 2 to 1, people call themselves conservative, yet at almost the same numbers, these very people say they vote Democrat.  He concluded that “obviously, the Republican party has a disconnect.”.

I wanted to tell him that when people call themselves “conservative”, they mean…conservative in how they dress, eat, drink, play.  They do NOT mean conservative as in Libertarian pretending to be Republican.

In fact, if Republicans bothered to ask the tea party people, they’d learn that most of them don’t care about illegals getting “amnesty”…they WANT the government to spend money as in Medicare and Social Security benefits.  In fact a huge part of the reason for that huge crowd that gave Brown and company their victories is because most of them are knocking on their own retirement and does not want to see a lifetime of “taxing” be cut just when they are about to collect.  You’d find that some of them are NOT pro-life, pro-gun, or even particularly interested in gay marriages.

Many years ago, Libertarians got tired of their 3% non important, no power numbers and joined the viable party closest to their ideals.  (See Ron Paul).  In 2005, pushed by entertainers like Rush, Beck, Ingraham, and Malkim…they began to separate “conservative” from “Republican”.   Thus “conservative” came to mean Reaganism, Constitutionalist, Ron Paulism…whatever Losertarians pretending to be the base of the Republican party wanted it to mean.  It also-happily extended to anyone using the term “conservative” as in a more conservative, less flashy manner of dress or action.

Unfortunately, as the Losertarians have separated conservatism from Republicans, so too has those who answer the poll question: “Do you consider yourself a conservative or a liberal?”  Which is why, when you take the “conservative” count, it does NOT register in votes for candidates running on illegal immigration issues or no government spending or a dozen and one losertarian ideals.

The Obama Move

Friday, March 5th, 2010

The bases are loaded and everyone leaning Right are envisioning Republicans marching in to win the whole darn thing come November this year and 2012.

But while Obama may be incompetent and even stupid, those whose advise he has refused to take so far isn’t.  Come the 21st of this month, the Dems are going to get that last minute pitcher who just may deny the GOP the game, the series, the entire league.

On that date, Obama will offer the single largest racial group something that will bind them to Democrats for generations.  He plans to offer them a path to citizenship…a chance to never be sent back to their third world country and to eventually bring their families here, to the land of opportunity.

He will also remind Hispanics of the conservative vitriolic rhetoric that demanded that a Berlin type wall be put up in the south (but not the north) and that children born here be rounded up with their illegal parents and sent back to Mexico.  As a caller said to Michael Medved, it won’t matter what the Right thinks or wants…it won’t matter how right or wrong they were to only concentrate on brown-skin illegals and not the whites that subject America to a security risk on a weekend basis.  The fact is that those 10 to 20 million illegals will be given the opportunity to pay back their gratitude each and every election to the socialist Dems.

Gone will be your gun rights…the marriage definition…religious freedom…the overturn of Roe vs. Wade…and every other principle conservatives hold dear.

If you think illegals use the ERs instead of the free clinics that ask no questions, you will REALLY go ape when those illegals gets on the entitlement train.

The best counter move the Republicans can make is to IGNORE this.  I am serious.  Any objection will remind minorities how bad the GOP Mexican rhetoric was just a year ago.  The fact is that the minority Republicans cannot stop the majority Democrats from granting full citizenship to Mexican illegals and no matter how Republicans call it, they will be seen as the party that hates Hispanics.  People do not wait for explanations as to why they or their loved ones are being denied.  They will see two parties: the Dems who wants to treat Mexicans as equals and the GOP that wants to kick them out.

But of course, the conservative talk show hosts and their minions will do what they did the last time they made GWB spend his political captial on this issue: turn against any Republican that doesn’t insist on rounding up Mexican illegals and shipping them out. You will have a replay of Bush’s last 2 years with this exception.

The Dems WILL pass it, the Hispanics WILL be grateful for generations, AND conservatives will be relegated to an insignificant and crazy, Hispanic hating minority.

I believe this is Obama’s “game over”

Only refusing to allow the losertarians to continue to speak for the party of Republicans may keep Obama from saying “go home.”

Maybe.

A note here: I know, conservatives will be screaming that we can’t give illegals amnesty.  A reality check here, YOU, the GOP does NOT have the ability to stop this.  The best Republicans can do is REMIND seniors that Dems are taking a HALF a trillion of their medicare to fund health care for people that have broken our immigration laws.  They should throw their hands up and simply say this is what happens when Dems get the majority; they are so busy trying to be a good world citizen, they forget about the American citizen.  That the GOP would concentrate on jobs for Americans…and national security for Americans…health care for Americans and the thriving economy for Americans.

But again, Republicans are NOT running the show now.  Democrats are.

Grateful for McCain’s lost

Friday, February 26th, 2010

I’ve spent a good portion of this year lamenting the lost of the election to Obama and wondering wistfully what America’s economy would be like with a tax cutting, never took pork President McCain and a VP Palin…

Then some guy subbing for Dennis Prager put it all in prospective…he said he had voted for McCain BUT he was glad that McCain didn’t win because McCain would only frustrate conservatives and Obama is showing the Independents what the Dems are all about.

And I realized that if McCain had won, conservatives (libertarians pretending to be Republicans) would have never let up; they’d have made the Bush bashing look like a lovefest.  And of course we all know what Palin would have been treated to by the MSM..

The 8 years of Bush bashing was hurtful, frustrating, and plain stupid.  You NEVER win by telling the voter how your side doesn’t deserve to win…this is NOT rocket science.  But Republicans got conned by the Losertarians bent on making Republicans as irrelevant as they were.  And they would have continued to do so until the party of Republicans was destroyed.

It took the lost of both houses of Congress and the White House before Republicans understood that people who had no pride in their party…who refused to even donned the label of being a “Republican” did not share their values of loyalty, honesty, and responsibility.

That when someone complained about a politician not being conservative enough…they meant not Libertarian enough.  Listen to these people carefully…they do not equate Republican with Conservative…the latter is always connected with a Libertarian.

Reagan, Bush 1 and 2, Dole, Palin, Graham, Rice, and especially McCain…they were REPUBLICANS and as GWB standing on the mound of the twin towers almost made me decide to be a card carrying GOP…McCain’s year long fight against Obama and company once again had me thinking of the party of Republicans.

I am an Independent…the tea party type of Independent driven more by issues than ideology…the 40% that decide elections type of Independent.

And if McCain can make this one Independent think of joining the party of Republicans, then he’s done more for this nation than all the pretty words of conservative purity.

Tea Party

Sunday, February 7th, 2010

The biggest threat to Republicans are not Democrats trying to degenerate the large groups they’ve labled “tea party”; it’s the Libertarina/pretending to be conservative that are trying to claim the tea party as their own.

Blog after blog and talk show hosts after entertainment radio gurus have gone back to their 2006 demand for conservative purity.  One writer states that the Independents have “learned” their lesson and have come running back to the conservative side.  Most state with as much conviction as the Dems who believed Scott Brown had won because the Dems weren’t libereal enough, that the way to KEEP the tea party people is to be MORE conservative!

This makes zero sense.  If the great numbers gathering in townhalls, parks, and most importantly, VOTING booths were conservative, we wouldn’t have a Dem congress and the biggest Liberal in the White House in living memory.  No, you cannot blame the large majority on Blue dog Democrats and Obama pretending to be a centalist and at the same time argue that being centalist is what caused the GOP to lose.

The fact is that the tea party was formed to counter two issues…Obamacare and jobs.  That’s it.  Sorry, while many care about gay marriage, abortion, gun rights, illegals, unions vs. capitalism, taxes, social programs, these issues rarely get the kind of numbers that Obamacare and the economy garners.

In 2006, Libertarins calling themselves the base of a party they had no loyalty to, told this majority that the GOP wasn’t fit to govern.  They called for a complete kick out of those running under the “R” banner.

And because most Independents have neither the time nor the interest in politics, they gave the only other viable party their vote.

In 2010, this same group will give Republicans back the power.

IF, Republicans and those who wish to see sanity back in the WH and Congress do the following:

ADHERE to the Reagan 11th ammendment.  It is NEVER a good idea to tell the voters the negatives about your party.  Believe me, your enemies are only too happy to oblige in that area.  And no “honesty” doesn’t mean one has to act stupidly.

NEVER apply a conservative purity test to the majority that may not be conservative at all.  Remember that whoever wins need to represent ALL people in his area…the Dems and the Independents, not just those who agree with them.  Those who run under the Republican banner needs to understand that and express that to the would be voters…he/she will represent ALL Americans. Period.

GROW UP, in our form of government, a candidate that cannot work across the aisle, make deals, keep a secret, take from peter to pay paul, will NEVER succeed.  And as long as there are no term limits, no line veto, and complicated tax forms, a Mr. Smith goes to Washington will be eaten alive.

Lastly, shut down the extremes.  They not only turn off those who would be on your side and give you victory, but they scare those who are sitting on the fence.

You will know them when they claim to be the base of a party they have no loyalty to and when they demand zero spending.

Republicans have always understood that sometimes as in the case of outspending Russia that using tax dollars is necessary.  And that loyalty is sometimes the only thing left standing among a person’s principles.

Stuck on Stupid

Thursday, January 7th, 2010

There’s a really good reason that the “tea party” people make most pundits nervous.  They aren’t “conservatives”, although they most certainly lean right on the issue of health care.  They aren’t really “liberal” either, but most I gather wanted a “Black man” to occupy the top seat.

Glenn Beck, Dennis Miller, and president wannabes pretend to be one of them and all would love to think that the group is big enough to form a third party that can take on both the Dems and the GOP.

Hate to break it to ya all but the tea party that so scares and excites both the Left and the Right are Independents…the REAL majority that cannot get together long enough to form a party or be controlled.

Right now, this group is angry as all get out at the Left.  They have good, solid reasons for their anger.  The Left has had one year to take care of the things they care about…the economy, the courts, and terror.  Three things GWB and company EXCELLED in.

The only other VIABLE party, the party of REPUBLICANS are looking mighty good right now.

And what do the so called base do?  REMIND these voters what a terrible job Bush and the GOP did when they were in power!

Is this stupid or what?

I mean really, has NONE of them ever sold anything?  You don’t push YOUR product by constantly reminding the customer of how unhappy you are with the company (party) you belong to.  It says more about YOUR integrity and YOUR intelligence in remaining than it ever says about the party you are supposed to represent.

If you really want to show that you stand for principles…make sure that principles include loyalty…and if you can’t give that to a party, then PLEASE go create/join one that you can.

Leave the party of Republicans to Republicans, so that in 2010, those tea party and other Independents can freely join them when they put America first.

The Voter

Thursday, November 19th, 2009

Political pundits from both sides of the aisle have been telling their choir that the country is either “conservative” or “liberal”.  When the GOP held Congress and the White House, the “base” demanded that these two branches of power ignore the population that was NOT conservative and bring about the kind of utopia only a libertarian would love.  In 2008, when the Dems did likewise, move on dot org is making similiar demands.  And like the GOP, the Dems will learn who Joe/Jane voter really is.

The truth can be found in an off remark made by a guest on a radio talk show regarding the sweep of GOP victories a few weeks ago…”Actually, the GOP is equally disturbed about the results because we don’t know how to control the tea party, townhall people that gave the GOP their victories.”

They can’t simply because these people are neither conservative or liberal…they are, as I have been saying for years: Independents.  Some lean left and some, as I do, lean right on issues.

They are neither stupid or unprincipled; just extremely busy.

They may not have taken the abortion issue seriously when it was being run thru the courts 35 years ago, but they come out EVERY time there is a vote to make sure that marriage remains between a man and a woman.

They may shrug when they are nickled and dimed with user fees, but will throw out a governor who tries to hike their car registration fees by the hundreds.

They may not know who is their Vice President, Senator or Speaker of the House, but they understand that under Bush, life was easier and safer.  And if Obama doesn’t start bringing back the time when jobs are plentiful and huge 401k profits of the Bush era or a bomb goes off in a major city during Obama’s watch and he does nothing…they won’t care what color Obama’s skin is or how charming he is, they WILL roast him and toss him out on his butt.

Independents are typically busy with work, family, social obligations (Church, sports).  They vary on their ideals, their beliefs, their dreams.  They do not, please listen, do NOT care about equality or distribution of wealth, nor do they care about illegals or not being conservative (aka libertarian) enough.

They DO care about 3 things, each DIRECTLY affecting THEIR lives:

1- the war on terror

2- the economy

3- the courts

In all three the GOP had a definite advantage.

Unfortunately, Libertarians pretending to be the base, had GWB and Congress addressing THEIR issues, issues that a MINORITY of voters cared about.

The Dems are making the same mistake.

And round it goes.

Also as predicted, the GOP WILL get their shot at total power again.  The only hope I have is that when the party of Republicans get there, they will remember who REALLY put them there and act accordingly

Health Care: comparing Apples to Oranges

Saturday, September 12th, 2009

Medved had a debate with a Liberal who reminded him that the military is a government run agency and it proves that not all government agency is wasteful or unsuccessful.

Here’s the BIG difference…the military is NOT a democracy.  Now, unless, we as a society want to give up our civilian lifestyle, the success of our military cannot be used to measure the probability of creating another effective public department.

He also spoke of the fire and police department being “successful” government programs funded by the tax payer; again both agencies have a military type rank and file system where the heads of both agencies are subject to public hearings and removal that doesn’t require acts of congress and long and expensive hearings.

Like it or not, the profit factor is directly responsible for cures to many of the diseases that mere decades ago were considered to be in the realm of the almighty.

Take away the money factor and you are left with professionals that have the financial ability and the desire to heal with little compensation…backed by drug companies that also has the financial ability to promote new discoveries and miracles.

We already have a shortage of medical professionals and each day, drug companies are finding their cures cost more in litigation than they could ever offer in profits to their stock holders.

I’m not sure if Liberals live in a world that is so far above reality or if they truly do not comprehend how business works.  They are like kids that keep taking support from their parents, way after they have gone to college and insist that their level of education makes them smarter than their parents.

In any event, until these “kids” grow up, we really shouldn’t have them running this nation.
