Grateful for McCain’s lost

Friday, February 26th, 2010

I’ve spent a good portion of this year lamenting the lost of the election to Obama and wondering wistfully what America’s economy would be like with a tax cutting, never took pork President McCain and a VP Palin…

Then some guy subbing for Dennis Prager put it all in prospective…he said he had voted for McCain BUT he was glad that McCain didn’t win because McCain would only frustrate conservatives and Obama is showing the Independents what the Dems are all about.

And I realized that if McCain had won, conservatives (libertarians pretending to be Republicans) would have never let up; they’d have made the Bush bashing look like a lovefest.  And of course we all know what Palin would have been treated to by the MSM..

The 8 years of Bush bashing was hurtful, frustrating, and plain stupid.  You NEVER win by telling the voter how your side doesn’t deserve to win…this is NOT rocket science.  But Republicans got conned by the Losertarians bent on making Republicans as irrelevant as they were.  And they would have continued to do so until the party of Republicans was destroyed.

It took the lost of both houses of Congress and the White House before Republicans understood that people who had no pride in their party…who refused to even donned the label of being a “Republican” did not share their values of loyalty, honesty, and responsibility.

That when someone complained about a politician not being conservative enough…they meant not Libertarian enough.  Listen to these people carefully…they do not equate Republican with Conservative…the latter is always connected with a Libertarian.

Reagan, Bush 1 and 2, Dole, Palin, Graham, Rice, and especially McCain…they were REPUBLICANS and as GWB standing on the mound of the twin towers almost made me decide to be a card carrying GOP…McCain’s year long fight against Obama and company once again had me thinking of the party of Republicans.

I am an Independent…the tea party type of Independent driven more by issues than ideology…the 40% that decide elections type of Independent.

And if McCain can make this one Independent think of joining the party of Republicans, then he’s done more for this nation than all the pretty words of conservative purity.

Hijacking the Tea Party

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

A woman claiming to be a member of the tea party warned Michael Medved that the Republicans had better not try to hijack the Tea Party…

Sigh.

The chances are great that this woman was one of those who claimed to be the “base” of a party she had zip loyalty to, who had candidates she couldn’t stand and refused to support.  She ignored the fact that GWB and the GOP gave us the best economy in 3 decades despite TWO recessions and a war, stopped the barbaric partial birth abortion, and kept America safe for 7 years.  All she wanted to dwell on was illegals to the South, a bi-partisan bill that REQUIRED teachers to teach, and a social program that didn’t make seniors choose between eating and life saving drugs.

Now, her and her group of 3rd party wannabes are trying to take over the tea party.

The problem is…the tea party are INDEPENDENTS.  They don’t want to be a conservative.  They went stone quiet when Tancredo preached his illegals are the evil of this nation.  They even shrugged when speakers complained about the Bush and GOP years of spending.  Obama and his trillion dollar “budget” gave new meaning to the word “spending”…and some of them LIKE social programs like THEIR social security that gives them some independence from their grown up children.

In short EVERY card played on the Republicans, ain’t playing here.

Many are passionately pro-life…but some couldn’t care less.  Some are actually union workers and some may have previously voted Democrat.  Then there are most who DON’T worship at the altar of men long dead.  The last they heard about the signers of the constitution was in a high school text book.  And as hard as it is to believe, many don’t remember Reagan other than he made a nice speech about tearing down the Berlin wall.

They DO remember when most people had two or three job offers.  They recall McDonald’s upping their wages to get kids from working at Jack in the Box and when they could leave the really back breaking work to illegals.  They recall the days after 9/11 when every loud sound could be another attack and the picture of Saddam’s teeth will forever bring a smile.

And as they watch Obama and the do nothing (at best) Democrats and/or the mind blowing spending, they look toward the only other viable party.

They hear the same old tirade that turned them off.

But this time, reasonable Republicans are distancing themselves from the conservatives who claimed to be their base…the Losertarians who KNOW they cannot win with their measly 3%.

As an Independent, who has been trying to tell the party of Republicans for 4 years that the so called base only wanted to take over and ultimately destroy by making the GOP unelectable, let me say to this woman caller and her minions…

LAY OFF the only viable party that can stop the Dems from destroying this nation.  Go join/create your own party, one you can be loyal to and offer candidates you can support.

The Independents will NOT destroy the GOP and turn to you.  They understand that right NOW, out of all the parties out there, the ONLY one that is remotely adult and sane are the GOP.  They’re not perfect, but they don’t have to be.  As long as we have elections and Independents continue to be the majority, we will continue to elect those who will serve us all…Independents, Republicans, Democrats, and yes third party wannabes.

Tea Party

Sunday, February 7th, 2010

The biggest threat to Republicans are not Democrats trying to degenerate the large groups they’ve labled “tea party”; it’s the Libertarina/pretending to be conservative that are trying to claim the tea party as their own.

Blog after blog and talk show hosts after entertainment radio gurus have gone back to their 2006 demand for conservative purity.  One writer states that the Independents have “learned” their lesson and have come running back to the conservative side.  Most state with as much conviction as the Dems who believed Scott Brown had won because the Dems weren’t libereal enough, that the way to KEEP the tea party people is to be MORE conservative!

This makes zero sense.  If the great numbers gathering in townhalls, parks, and most importantly, VOTING booths were conservative, we wouldn’t have a Dem congress and the biggest Liberal in the White House in living memory.  No, you cannot blame the large majority on Blue dog Democrats and Obama pretending to be a centalist and at the same time argue that being centalist is what caused the GOP to lose.

The fact is that the tea party was formed to counter two issues…Obamacare and jobs.  That’s it.  Sorry, while many care about gay marriage, abortion, gun rights, illegals, unions vs. capitalism, taxes, social programs, these issues rarely get the kind of numbers that Obamacare and the economy garners.

In 2006, Libertarins calling themselves the base of a party they had no loyalty to, told this majority that the GOP wasn’t fit to govern.  They called for a complete kick out of those running under the “R” banner.

And because most Independents have neither the time nor the interest in politics, they gave the only other viable party their vote.

In 2010, this same group will give Republicans back the power.

IF, Republicans and those who wish to see sanity back in the WH and Congress do the following:

ADHERE to the Reagan 11th ammendment.  It is NEVER a good idea to tell the voters the negatives about your party.  Believe me, your enemies are only too happy to oblige in that area.  And no “honesty” doesn’t mean one has to act stupidly.

NEVER apply a conservative purity test to the majority that may not be conservative at all.  Remember that whoever wins need to represent ALL people in his area…the Dems and the Independents, not just those who agree with them.  Those who run under the Republican banner needs to understand that and express that to the would be voters…he/she will represent ALL Americans. Period.

GROW UP, in our form of government, a candidate that cannot work across the aisle, make deals, keep a secret, take from peter to pay paul, will NEVER succeed.  And as long as there are no term limits, no line veto, and complicated tax forms, a Mr. Smith goes to Washington will be eaten alive.

Lastly, shut down the extremes.  They not only turn off those who would be on your side and give you victory, but they scare those who are sitting on the fence.

You will know them when they claim to be the base of a party they have no loyalty to and when they demand zero spending.

Republicans have always understood that sometimes as in the case of outspending Russia that using tax dollars is necessary.  And that loyalty is sometimes the only thing left standing among a person’s principles.
